Who was Reis?

Reis Landon Yoc-Santos, affectionately known as 'Peanut Butter' by his mother Heather, was born on September 29, 2010 in Dover, DE. September 29th is the Feast of Saints Michael, Gabriel, and Raphael, honoring the three archangels named in the Bible who serve as protectors and messengers. Reis always had a gentle, loving and protecting demeanor with a cherub-like smile. One of the unique things about Reis was that he never gave his parents any reason to worry or stress. Truly an 'angel'. How fitting to be born on such a day and later known as an 'Angel on Earth'?

Before Reis was born, the doctors told his mother that he had a serious kidney problem that would need surgery after birth. His mother, knowing that St. Benedict of Nursia is patron saint of various diseases like kidney ailments, feels strongly that St. Benedict's intercession healed Reis because post-birth, the kidney problem miraculously disappeared needing no further treatment.

An ailment that Reis struggled with was tinnitus where he would hear a constant ringing or buzzing in his ear. There is no cure for it. Reis struggled with this silently until one day confessing it to his mother who later had it confirmed by a doctor. Despite this symptom, Reis had a talent and passion for music and persevered in anything he set his heart to, especially when it concerned his body and spirit.

"He was always patient and slow to anger, but still ready to stand up for anyone he loved. He always showed up, was always kind, always knew how to make you smile and made sure you knew you were loved."
